What's in Recharge
In Taoist tonic herbalism, Jing is your deep reserve of energy, the tank you draw down when you push hard. These six herbs are the ones that tradition reaches for to rebuild it, each sourced from the region where it grows best.
He Shou Wu
One of the most famous longevity herbs in China, named after a legendary villager whose youthful vigor and dark hair were said to return after taking it. It is a classic Jing tonic.
Cordyceps
We use Cordyceps militaris, grown through a special fermentation process that makes it exceptionally high in cordycepin, the compound behind most of cordyceps' energy benefits. It is one of the most celebrated tonics in Chinese herbalism for stamina and endurance.
Cistanche
Known as desert ginseng, cistanche grows in the sands of Inner Mongolia and northwest China. It is treasured as a warming tonic for vitality and drive.
Eucommia
The bark of a tree native to central China. When you snap a piece, fine silvery threads stretch between the halves, and tradition has long associated it with strong, flexible backs and joints.
Morinda
A root from southern China that has been used for centuries as a warming tonic. In tonic herbalism it is one of the classic herbs for strength and stamina.
Prepared Rehmannia
A root that is steamed and dried again and again until it turns rich and black. This careful preparation makes it one of the most nourishing tonics in Chinese herbalism.
Wild-Harvested Heirloom Cacao
Our cacao comes from wild, genetically diverse heirloom trees in Ecuador, 20 to 50+ years old, growing in mineral-rich volcanic soil. Never a plantation monocrop.
Tested for Mycotoxins and Heavy Metals
Every batch of cacao is third-party tested for mycotoxins and heavy metals before it becomes chocolate, so you can make it a daily habit with confidence.
Sweet, With Zero Sugar
Sweetened with organic allulose and monk fruit, both non-glycemic. Keto, paleo, vegan, and gluten-free, and it still tastes like good dark chocolate.
What Else Goes Into Every Bar
Organic Allulose
Allulose is found naturally in small amounts in figs, raisins and maple syrup. It tastes and bakes like sugar, but your body doesn't burn it for fuel, so it has almost no calories and doesn't raise blood sugar or insulin. It's what lets our bars taste like real chocolate with zero sugar.
Organic Monk Fruit
Monk fruit, also called luo han guo, is a small green melon from the mountains of southern China. It's been used there for centuries, both as a sweetener and, in traditional Chinese medicine, as a lung tonic. Its sweetness comes from natural compounds called mogrosides, which are hundreds of times sweeter than sugar. It has no calories and doesn't raise blood sugar, so a tiny amount rounds out the sweetness of the allulose.
Raw Organic Sunflower Lecithin
Lecithin keeps the cacao butter and cacao solids blended into one smooth, even bar. Most lecithin is extracted with chemical solvents like hexane. Ours is raw, organic sunflower lecithin that's cold-pressed with no solvents at all. It's soy-free, and a natural source of choline, a nutrient your brain and liver rely on.
Icelandic Sea Salt
Our sea salt comes from the pristine North Atlantic waters off the Reykjanes area of Iceland. It's made using only geothermal energy: heat from the area's natural hot springs evaporates the seawater, with no fossil fuels involved. Just a pinch goes into our chocolate, enough to quietly bring out the depth of the cacao.
